Promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment at centres through the Welcome Here Project

QIC is committed to promoting a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ Community at all of our centres. On 16 May 2022, in conjunction with the recognition of IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism & Transphobia), QIC launched the ‘Welcome Here Project’ within our centres nationally.
The Welcome Here Project supports local business owners and services in Australia to create and promote environments that are visibly welcoming and inclusive of LGBTQ+ people. QIC centres display Welcome Here rainbow stickers at our entries to let everyone know that LGBTQ+ diversity is welcomed and celebrated within our centres. As part of the launch of Welcome Here, centre staff and integrated services team members received training on the purpose of Welcome Here and LGBTQ+ awareness training. QIC was also proudly recognised as a Bronze tier employer at the 2022 Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards in May 2022.
